‘Orama’, Studio View, 42 x 30 cm – 16.5″ x 11.8″

There are different elements in this project that represent characters from ancient mythology and philosophy, but the context in which I insert them during the compositional approach is not the same in which they arise in the storytelling, that’s why I could say that these works carry a ‘metaphysical’ message.

“Orama, In Greek language, means ‘vision’ and through this project, Alberto developed five works inspired by ancient Greek and Egyptian cultures mixed with his naturalistic vision of the world.”

This body of work implement painting, drawing, photography and digital collages through which the artist investigated atavistic powers of Nature in its relations between human body and natural patterns, accordingly to different primordial Greek and Egyptian natural conceptions.

From the Greek philosophy of Plato and Aristotle, in accordance to the still unsupervised antithesis ‘nomos/fysi’ (mankind/nature), the necessity of this awareness represented by the concept of ‘Ananke’ and how this awareness starts to be perceived from and within our bodies, as a thin and sensorial perception, to the unconventional approach of the software usage for the final rendering of natural patterns.

A glimpse within the fuction of ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs emulated for the technical approach in the last work of ‘Orama Project’ : ‘Aegyptiaka’.

Like branches of a tree are eradicated from the trunk, Orama unfolds different critical sources of inspiration in multiple directions, both conceptually, technically and on a utility level abstracted.

Works in this project have been created combining various photographs taken in woods and parks as the iconic Parco della Rimembranza in Turin, open natural spaces, at the Egyptian Museum in Turin mixed with the charcoal drawing of the angel, scanned and digitally reworked, combined with digital collages on the software for the final rendering and high quality printing process.

Taking in consideration part of processes I developed for the “Orama Project” with drawing, acrylics, manual and digital collages approaches, during the exhibition and workshop in St.Art Amsterdam gallery , I talked about the ‘concept of opposites’, accordingly to the ancient Greek philosophy of Heraclitus, united with the functioning of Egyptian hieroglyphs, and how these ancient conceptual mechanisms can be translated as creative processes by just drawing and painting a tree without specific references but the inner-vision of the idea of a tree itself.
