'Syntaxis Universale'

Syntaxis Universale is a mixedmedia clay sculpture inspired by human anatomy and ancient astronomy representing a human half bust with part of the head detached in the upper lateral side.

On the forehead, there is the hieroglyph that can be transliterated into “-mr” which can be translated into “Love/ To Will” that’s why the sculpture is called ‘Syntaxis Universale’.

The detached part of the head presents astronomical elements within, that are inspired by the star maps of ancient Egyptian astronomers.

Knowledge on Egyptian astronomy comes to us above all from the lids of sarcophagi of the Old Kingdom.

Decans, single stars or constellations appear on those sarcophagi, accompanied by hieroglyphics which are difficult to decipher, of the Middle Kingdom on which they make their first appearance of the diagonal star clocks, true ephemeris of the stars.
